History:  KDP began in 1911 by William Bagley, Truman Kelly, and Thomas Edgar Musselman at the University of Illinois to foster excellence in education and promote fellowship among those dedicated to teaching. Today the initiated membership exceeds 1 .2 million.

 

ESU IOTA is the 9th oldest chapter of over 800 worldwide; started March 15, 1920!  

 

Our Mission:  KDP inspires and equips future and new teachers to thrive.

 

Our Vision:  Excellent teachers build thriving communities and create lifelong opportunities by providing quality, equitable education for all.

 

Our Creed:  So to Teach that our words inspire a will to learn; So to Serve that each day may enhance the growth of exploring minds; So to Live that we may guide young and old to know the truth and love the right.  To the fulfillment of these objectives, we pledge our efforts and our faith.

 

Our Motto:  KDP was named from the Greek words Knowledge, Duty, Power

Kappa Delta Pi members keep good company. Albert Einstein,
George Washington Carver, Jean Piaget, John Dewey, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Margaret Mead are just a few members that have made outstanding contributions to the development of professional education.
